Elon Musk, the owner of SpaceX, Tesla, and the small blog writing site X (formerly Twitter), wants to establish a human settlement on Mars in the next few years. He wants to take one million people to Mars on the rocket of his own spacecraft manufacturer SpaceX to establish a human settlement on Mars. In the meantime, Elon Musk has also started working to send SpaceX's unmanned Starship spacecraft to the planet this year to implement his plan. This time, he has suggested naming the city to be built for humans on Mars 'Terminus'.

Elon Musk is working to send humans to Mars by early 2029. In a recent interview, he said, "To sustain humanity in the long term, we need to take life to different planets. We want to better understand the nature of the universe. We need to ensure the long-term survival of civilization. Even if the risk of something terrible happening on Earth is low, there must be continuity in the desire to go to Mars."

In an X message, Elon Musk said that the name of the city on Mars has been proposed as 'Terminus', inspired by various stories in the 'Foundation' series of science fiction author Isaac Asimov. However, he said that the final decision on the name of the city will depend on the future settlers of Mars.

Tesla's humanoid robot Optimus will be sent on the unmanned Starship mission to Mars that SpaceX is working to launch by the end of 2025. The robots will check the feasibility of conducting human missions in the future. In this regard, Musk said that if this landing is completed well, then humans can land on Mars by 2029.
