Shakib Al Hasan who is a Bangladeshi international cricket player is considered to be the greatest cricketer and sportsman to have ever played for Bangladesh. He is considered the current best all-rounder in the world and one of the greatest of all time. He is the richest athlete in Bangladesh. He gets his earnings from cricket salary, endorsements, sponsors, cosmetics, event management, and restaurant businesses.

He is one of the most valuable players of T20 leagues like Indian Premier League (IPL), Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL), Sri Lanka Premier League, Big Bash, Caribbean Premier League and County Cricket.

Shakib was contracted by Kolkata Knight Riders for US$425,000 in 2011. He received Rs. 2,80,00,000 for his stay in 2015. Shakib Al-Hasan is a popular face at home. He was the top pick among the Bangladeshi players in BPL and was picked by Dhaka Gladiators for $365,000. In 2015, Shakib received the icon player status for Rangpur Riders with a pay amounting to 35 Lakhs Taka. Shakib was entitled as one of the Platinum Players in PSL. At the age of 17, he made his debut for Khulna to play in the National Domestic League. He first represented Bangladesh at the U-19 level. In August 2006, Shakib made his national team debut against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club. Soon, he was made himself one of the most important players in Bangladesh.

In 2009, he became the number 1 ODI all-rounder. In the same year, Shakib was named the Wisden Cricketer of the year. He later became the first ever Bangladeshi to play in the English County Cricket League. In 2012, he also became the number 1 Test all-rounder of World Cricket. Shakib became the first and the only cricketer in history to be ranked the No.1 all-rounder by ICC in its Player Rankings in all three formats of the game in 2015 (Test, Twenty20 and One Day Internationals).

He holds numerous records in both domestic and international formats for Bangladesh. Until 2016, he has played over 250 matches and scored more than 8000 runs including 9 centuries in ODI's, tests, and T20 internationals, second most for a Bangladeshi cricketer. In 2015, he got his 200th ODI wicket. With this achievement, Shakib became the seventh member of the elite club with at least 4,000 runs and 200 wickets. He also became the sixth person in the history of the game with a double distinction of 8000 runs and 400 international wickets after Sanath Jayasuriya, Kapil Dev, Chris Cairns, Shahid Afridi, and Jacques Kallis.

He is also one of only three players to score a century and take 10 wickets in the same Test match. Shakib is currently the top-ranked all-rounder in International Cricket Council (ICC)’s list for One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and is ranked second in the ICC ranking of Test and T20Is all-rounders. His achievements on the pitch brought him numerous accolades nationally and internationally, world and Asian XI call ups, Wisden recognition, and established him as a national icon.
