Musk's 'Grokipedia' is coming to compete with Wikipedia

American billionaire Elon Musk has expressed his dissatisfaction with popular online platforms at various times. Now he has announced that he will create an alternative to Wikipedia, the world's largest online encyclopedia. His new project will be called 'Grokipedia'.

Musk's artificial intelligence (AI) company XAI will build the platform, which Musk claims will be a "bigger leap" than Wikipedia in helping people learn about information.

Recently, a user on social media X posted a post accusing Wikipedia of being biased. In response, Musk wrote, “We are building Grokipedia on XAI. It will be much better than Wikipedia. In fact, it is a necessary step towards fulfilling XAI’s goal of understanding the universe.”

Of course, this is not the first accusation from Musk. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO has long called Wikipedia biased. He claims that the platform is influenced by leftist ideology. He also questioned the Wikimedia Foundation’s fundraising methods. Because the non-profit organization mainly relies on donations from ordinary people.

Musk said that Grokpedia will not be an encyclopedia edited by ordinary people like Wikipedia. Instead, it will be built around Grok AI, a chatbot created by XAI. Musk launched Grok in late 2023, which is known as a competitor to OpenAI's ChatGPT. Musk claims that Grok is able to detect lies, challenge partial truths and clarify the context of information online.

However, reports say that Musk's AI system has not ended. Earlier this year, Grok said in a reply that the three most harmful people to America are Elon Musk, Donald Trump and JD Vance. Later, after the launch of Grok version 4, the AI bot was once seen praising Hitler.

After these incidents, a storm of criticism arose. Musk later explained that users had deliberately 'tempted' Grok. In his words, 'Grok was overly polite and eager to do what the user said. Now that is being corrected.'
