Just when 5G network deployment is almost complete, telcos are already discussing "5.5G."

Spain's BARCELONA The deployment of 5G wireless mobile networks has not yet been completed by telecom providers. Nevertheless, leaders of significant carriers are already discussing the development of "5.5G," or "5G Advanced," technology.

At the Mobile World Congress tech trade conference in Barcelona, Spain, there was a lot of talk about 5G.

Thousands of professionals in the mobile business, including those from top telecom providers like Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telefonica, BT, and Vodafone, gathered at MWC.

Executives from a few of these companies discussed during the exhibition how they were aiming to launch a new wave of mobile internet.

That would make it possible to utilise even more sophisticated apps than the data-hungry ones that we are already accustomed to using, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Netflix, and TikTok.

Although 5.5G is anticipated to support more sophisticated applications in the future, these apps are already well-served by the mobile internet.

Utilising even more advanced apps than the data-hungry ones we are already used to using, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Netflix, and TikTok, would be rendered feasible by this.

Even though more advanced apps are expected to be supported by 5.5G in the future, mobile internet now provides excellent support for these apps.
