Intel Resuming Free Coffee and Tea After 15,000 Employee Layoffs

After cutting several employee benefits in an effort to save money, Intel has announced that it will once again provide free coffee and tea to its staff.

Intel made the decision to fire 15,000 employees in August of this year. Intel reduced a number of employee benefits, including reimbursements for phone, internet, and travel expenditures, in addition to these layoffs.

Intel concentrated on minimising costs in a number of non-essential sectors as part of their larger cost-reduction strategy. Intel also made adjustments to employee benefits, such as lowering reimbursements for phone, internet, and transportation costs.

In a recent letter to staff, the business did admit that, despite ongoing financial difficulties, some benefits—such as free coffee and tea—are necessary to preserve a healthy work atmosphere.

The significance of minor luxuries in the workplace was highlighted in Intel's internal message, which was posted on its employee platform, "Circuit."

"Even while Intel continues to struggle with costs, we recognise how important little conveniences are to our everyday lives. We are aware that this is a modest start, but we think it will have a significant impact on our working culture," the business said.

Once a major player in the computer sector, Intel has suffered a number of setbacks that have reduced its ability to compete. Even while the company played a significant role in the 1990s personal computer revolution, it trailed behind in the market for mobile chips, which helped Apple gain notoriety with the introduction of the iPhone.
