Eve, a subsidiary of Brazilian plane and aircraft maker Embraer, has announced that it will produce a commercial flying taxi by 2026, which will look a lot like a small helicopter. And it will be an electric car. This taxi can carry a maximum of six passengers. Each trip will cost 50 to 100 US dollars per passenger.

The flying taxi will be manufactured at Eve's own factory in Taubate, about 140 kilometers from Brazil's economic capital, Sao Paulo. The company hopes to launch a helicopter-like flying taxi by 2026. The company said that they have already received orders for the sale of 3,000 air taxis. The company intends to produce a prototype of the proposed air taxi within this year.

The United States will begin commercial use of such air taxis as early as 2025. The helicopter-like vehicle will not require a runway to fly. As a result, such a flying taxi or car will not require much space. It will run on a fully electric motor. This vehicle will have less noise and pollution than a standard plane. While some vehicles may initially require a pilot, the Brazilian company Eve wants to develop a vehicle that will operate without a pilot, that is, a driver. The company claims that such vehicles made by them will be completely electric and will be environmentally friendly.

News agency AFP reported that the drone-like passenger vehicles would initially be used as taxis. The vehicle is expected to ease traffic congestion in densely populated cities by serving passengers at a very low cost. Besides, this vehicle can be used as an alternative vehicle for transporting goods.
