Bangladesh got 97 percent duty free facility for 5,000 products in China


Bangladesh has got 97 percent duty-free access to 5,161 more products in the Chinese market. Bangladesh will get this facility from July 1 this year. And it will remain in force till 2024. The foreign ministry said in a statement in Dhaka on Friday.


In a video message to the media this afternoon, Bangladesh's Ambassador to Beijing Mahbub Uz Zaman said that Bangladesh had sent a letter requesting duty-free access to the Chinese market. The Tariff Commission of the State Council of China has issued a notice on June 18 to provide this facility to Bangladesh.


Ambassador Mahbub Uz Zaman said that under the Asia-Pacific Trade Agreement or the Bangkok Agreement, Bangladesh already gets duty-free access to a number of products. As a result of getting this new facility, the scope of the product list of Bangladesh will increase to 8,256.


According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh already receives duty-free access to 3,095 products from China under the APT. Out of that facility, 97 percent duty free facility was given. As a result, 8,256 Bangladeshi products came under the duty-free facility in the Chinese market under the duty-free facility.
