1.       Moosa Bin Shamsher

Popularly known as “Prince Moosa”, Moosa Bin Shamsher is considered to be the richest person in Bangladesh. He is the founder of DATCO, a manpower exporting company. In addition, Moosa has also made great investments in weapon and arm business, which turned out to be of great profit. Moosa Bin Shamsher’s net worth is estimated to exceed $12 billion.

 

2.       Salman F Rahman

Listed among Bangladesh’s richest, Salman F Rahman is speculated to have a net worth of $1.3 billion. Along with his brother, Salman F Rahman laid the foundation of Bangladesh Export Import Company (BEXIMCO) in 1972. The company grew to prominence as the brothers started exporting a multitude of products to Europe, including seafood and crushed animal bones. Beximco expanded its wings in 1976 with the setting up of Beximco Pharmaceuticals. The rest, as they say, is history. With Salman F Rahman at its helm, Beximco Group today is one of the largest and oldest conglomerates in Bangladesh.

 

3.       Ahmad Akbar Sobhan

Ahmed Akbar Sobhan is the Chairman and Founder of Basundhara Group, which deals in a wide range of industries including paper, steel and engineering, tissue, LP Gas, sanitary napkin, cement, multi-paper, food and beverage, galvanized iron pipe.  With the success of Basundhara Group, Ahmad Akbar Sobhan has risen to become one of the most important figures in Bangladesh. He is believed to have a net worth exceeding $500 million.

 

4.       Ragib Ali

Ragib Ali is one of the richest people in Bangladesh, and is best known for his regular philanthropic activities. He is a perfect example of someone who has made it from rags to riches, quite literally. His journey started as an ordinary waiter, but his hard work and persistence has now placed him among the crème de la crème of Bangladesh. Ragib Ali owns Sylhet Tea Company Ltd, apart from leading several other tea estates in Sylhet and Chittagong. He has also founded numerous educational institutions in Bangladesh. His net worth is estimated to be about $250 million.

 

5.       M Anis Ud Dowla

The Chairman of ACI Limited, M Anis Ud Dowla is one of the most successful businessmen in Bangladesh. He has provided leadership to business community in different capacities. He has served for over 30 years at various leading companies like the British Oxygen Group of the UK and Bangladesh Oxygen, before holding the reins of three ICI companies in 1987 as their Group Managing Director. He is also the Chairman of ACI Group, one of the largest Bangladeshi conglomerates.
