Teletalk Getting Tk 2204 crore to provide Five-G service

The government has allocated Tk 2,144 crore to state-owned Teletalk to modernize the network to provide Five-G services. A project related to this has been approved in the meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday. The total cost of the project will be Tk 2,204 crore. Of this, the government will give Tk 2,144 crore. The remaining Tk 60 crore will be borne by Teletalk itself.

This was stated by Planning Minister MA Mannan at a press conference after the ECNEC meeting. Asked by a journalist why the government was repeatedly paying people's taxes to a loss-making organization, State Minister for Planning Shamsul Alam said, "Bangladesh is a welfare state. That is how our policy is formulated. We will support the private sector, we will give opportunities. But we will not leave everything to the private sector. '

The state minister for planning said, "BRTC is being run despite being a loss-making institution." It is being run for the welfare of the people. You should not keep the issue of loss in mind all the time. There are areas where there is no network other than Teletalk. "We have to run the loss-making organization with the welfare of the people in mind," he said.
